WBA Aachener Werkzeugbau Akademie GmbH, in cooperation with the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL at RWTH Aachen University, has dealt with precisely this topic. The result was the study "IT infrastructure for digital networking in toolmaking".
